The long awaited Kim-Kanye wedding finally arrived this weekend and with reams of press surrounding the Belvedere Fort venue in Florence and an a-list, guest list; the biggest curiosity surrounding the day was that of Kim’s dress.
Since her engagement to rapper, Kanye West on her birthday in October, Kim’s style has taken on a major evolution from the days spent in Paris Hiltons shadow, wearing velour tracksuits and body contouring dresses to her new status as a Fashion Icon, taking risks with high-fashion, monochromatic ensembles, sophisticated silhouettes and an enviable penchant for ultra-chic layering and red carpet looks. This illustrious rise in style credentials and Hollywood appearances, inevitably led to a long-awaited milestone in Kim’s career when she posed with Kanye on the cover of Vogue, a controversial move from Anna Wintour that essentially cemented Kim’s status as part of the Fashion elite; despite her socialite stature.

With a loyal dedication to Lanvin, Valentino, McQueen, Givenchy and Emma Scervino it was anybody’s guess to whom would be designing the reality TV star’s bridal gown and which style the bride would choose. In her 33 years, Kim has worn five very different wedding dresses to her three short marriages. At her last wedding to Basketball star, Kris Humphries, Kim opted for a fantasy inspired Vera Wang dress with a fitted sweetheart bodist and full princess-esque, ruffled skirt. Teamed with an embellished head adornment and veil, it was clear that this wedding look wasn’t intending on pulling any punches in the glamour stakes and gratified the LA influences in Kim’s maturing style.

But, the day had come and the dress has been unveiled. A floral, lace Givenchy, Haute Couture gown with sheer cut-out panels and romantic detailing along the long train; designed by family friend and the notable, creative mind behind Givenchy womenswear; Riccardo Tisci. The gown channelled an unexpected demeanour with a high embellished neck and lace sleeves; yet the cut-out detailing across the hips and stomach came as no surprise.

The structure and composition of the dress had been executed flawlessly to embrace and enhance Kim’s covetable curves and an exposed back panel, paid homage to Kim’s previous less-is-more philosophy with a sophisticated twist.
So, thoughts on the dress? The Bras&Honey office has been all a buzz with thoughts and opinions regarding this eminent marriage.
