The reason that machine washing is frowned upon is that if you think about the average washing cycle (I am not talking about the delicate cycle) involves a lot of agitation of clothing that is how clothes are cleaned in a washing machine.? There is a lot of twisting and bending and generally a lot of movement, when you add a delicate bra into the washing machine with underwires and fasteners, it is a recipe for damage, with the wires breaking or actually coming out of the bra.? Not to mention the damage you can do to your actual washing machine.
It is always recommended that you hand wash your bras to preserve the bra, it is really easy to do.? We are using Soak Wash which is a specially designed delicate wash ideal for washing lingerie.? You don't want to be using your normal laundry detergent as this is too harsh and degrade the fabric of the bra, which affects the elastic.? (You do not want to affect the elasticity of the bra as 85% of the support comes from the band, which is elasticated).?
This wash is super concentrated, so a little goes a long way! If you have any stains on your bra, dab a little of the wash on the stains with a little warm water and very gently rub.? If you have no stains you do not need to follow this step.?
Fill either a basin or a washing bowl with warm water and add a teaspoon of the wash, soak your bra in the mixture for 30 minutes.? Now here is the clever part this Soak Wash does not need to be rinsed so take your bra out of the water and gently squeeze the water out, by passing the bra through your hands, to get rid of the excess water. Lay your bra on a towel and leave it to dry.
Some times you just do not have the time or the inclination to hand wash your bras, I know I get it.? Although machine washing is not idea it can still be safe for your delicate bras?
When using the washing machine, make sure your washer is set to cold wash and that you have selected delicate wash, ideally also reduce the spin speed of switch it off if you can.? You should never just put your bras into the washing machine, you should always use a mesh lingerie bag. Before you put your bras into the mesh lingerie bag, make sure that you fasten the hook and eye fastening and if you have a racer/J hook clip also fastening this, as you do not want your bras catching on each other and causing damage.? Once the wash has finished lay your bras on a towel and let them dry.
Never ever ever put your bras in the dryer, the extreme heat can break down the elastic and spandex, which causing premature aging of your bras.
